Three ducks in a fountain

LAST weekend three ducks appeared at the fountain in the forecourt of Government Buildings, the Chas Mahal in Merrion Street. Consequently there was much talk of the omen they presented. Three meant the return of the coalition, it was speculated. But the observation by a member of the staff of the Department of the Taoiseach that one of the three happened to be a lady duck didn't go down very well in certain quarters.
