A 28-year man died following a fatal road collision in Co Cork early this morning.

The incident happened at Ballyhadeen, Castletownroche shortly before 3 am.

According to gardaí a car left the Mallow/Kildorrey road resulting in the death of the man who was travelling alone.

Gardaí in Sligo are also investigating a fatal road collision which happened at 10.30 on Saturday.

A 55-year-old woman was struck by a car at Cashel, Tubbercurry, when she was out walking. The woman died the next day in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.

Meanwhile, police in Northern Ireland are investigating a road collision which resulted in the death of one woman.

The incident happened near Crossmaglen south Armagh in the early hours of this morning.
