At Dublin Fashion Week three designers - Jennifer Rothwell, Vivien Walsh and Tim Ryan - have been selected by Brown Thomas buyers to have their collections showcased in the Dublin store later this year as part of its new Design Mentor programme.

The initiative aims to offer commercial, design and career advice to up-and-coming young designers.

The three chosen yesterday have differing areas of speciality.

Vivien Walsh is a well-established independent jeweller known for her feminine and sophisticated collections.

Tim Ryan is a knitwear designer based in London whose innovative circular seamless shapes in knit or crochet have a cult following in Ireland.

Jennifer Rothwell, an award winning graduate of NCAD, acquired substantial experience working with companies such as Norma Kamali and Calvin Klein in New York. She now operates from a studio in Artane. Classic tailoring such as well-made, well-cut luxurious coats are typical of Rothwell's style.

Dublin Fashion Week ends tomorrow with a gala event at the Mansion House where British designer Matthew Williamson - on his first visit to Ireland - will present his spring collection.
