Three people have died in two separate road crashes in Co Cork.

Two drivers were killed and a passenger was seriously injured when their cars collided on the N25 at Courtstown in Glanmire, Co Cork, shortly after midnight.

It is understood the driver of one car was a 17-year-old male from Co Wexford. The other driver, a woman from Ballincollig, was in her mid 20s.

A second man, who was a passenger in one of the cars, is 23 years-old and from Co Wexford. He was taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition has been described as critical.

In a separate crash, a teenage girl was killed and six others were injured in crash in Co Cork.

The vehicle they were travelling in hit a ditch on the old N8 between Kilbeheny and Mitchelstown shortly before 7pm last night.
