Marseille - Angry French fishermen threatened yesterday to widen their blockade of French ports unless the government acted to curb soaring fuel prices.

Fishing boats have blocked almost all ports along the Mediterranean coast and the Channel port of Cherbourg since Monday, prompting the Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, Mr Jean Glavany, to agree to meet fishermen tomorrow.
