Madrid - Tens of thousands of people from Spain's northern Aragon region marched yesterday to protest against a plan to channel water from the Ebro River to other, drought-plagued parts of the country.

Television pictures showed crowds on the main avenues and central square of Zaragoza, the regional capital, marching behind a banner reading: "Aragon, water and future".
