Romance is in the air at the launch of a fashion magazine, VIP Style, at the Fitzwilliam Hotel. Shane Hegarty, a writer from Skerries, tells of proposing to Maeve Mullins, a nurse, on the Cliffs of Moher earlier this summer. Yes, he got down on his knee, he says. And yes, she says, she said yes.

Also here are actor Tony Tormey and his fiancee, Kate Mullally, who will be married this week in Rathsallagh House in Co Wicklow. Then they're off to Seville on their honeymoon.

A couple who have had a marriage of a different sort altogether, for 21 years, are Carolyn Donnelly and Liz Quin. They've been designing clothes together since 1979. They're currently planning a show later this year to mark their union.
