Despite its rather over-reaching title - Style Catechism would have been more appropriate - this handbook of hip is a neat little rundown of what's been happening in the world of music, dance, media, fashion and popular culture. Although it hasn't a prayer of painting a complete picture of yoof culture in 1999, this compendium of cool does give thumbnail sketches from every aspect of modern style, covering such social types as dykons (dyke-icons) climeys (social-climbing Brits) and smelebrities (stars who have their own brand of fragrance); objects of desire such as the G-Shock, Doc Martens and the Technics 1200; and style icons such as Sophie Anderton, Ewan McGregor and Beck. Written by London DJ, promoter, producer and journalist Alon Shulman, Style Bible won't make you one of the "beautiful people", but it will help alleviate "information anxiety".
