A MAJORITY of the review group favours the deletion of the Preamble from the Constitution. It suggests its replacement by a basic formula of enactment of the Constitution by the people of Ireland.

In the present Preamble, the people of Eire adopt, enact and give themselves the Constitution "in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, from Whom is all authority and to Whom, as our final end, all actions both of men and States must be referred".
