THERE are hidden risks associated with the use of sunbeds, according to Dr Gillian Murphy, a consultant dermatologist

THERE are hidden risks associated with the use of sunbeds, according to Dr Gillian Murphy, a consultant dermatologist. She recommends that:

. No oils or perfumes should be used on the skin 24 hours before sunbed treatment.

. those taking any medication should not use sunbeds.

. those with multiple moles should not use sunbeds.

. sunbeds should not be used by those with skin complaints such as psoriasis or undergoing treatment for skin conditions unless requested by their doctor.

. those with underlying conditions such as lupus should not use sunbeds.

. eye protection should be used to reduce the risk of cataracts.
