A 14-year-old girl has died after she was struck by a vehicle in west Dublin last night.

A 14-year-old girl has died after she was struck by a vehicle in west Dublin last night.

The girl was struck by a SUV as she was walking on the N3 between Blanchardstown and Mulhuddart.

Gardaí said the collision happened at the Mulhudart sliproad at the Blanchardstown bypass shortly before 9pm. The girl was taken to James Connolly hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The road was closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision Examination and has since reopened.
