Harare - Riot police fired tear gas in the streets of Zimbabwe's capital yesterday to break up a protest against the alleged torture of two journalists for reporting a coup plot.

The editor of the independent Sunday Standard newspaper, Mr Mark Chavunduka, and senior reporter, Mr Ray Choto, said on Thursday they had suffered severe torture, including electric shocks to their genitals, at the hands of military police and agents of the Central Intelligence Organisation.
