A Cork taxi-driver was found not guilty by a jury in the Central Criminal Court last night of charges of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault of a 17-year-old female passenger in his car last year.

The court found the 42-year-old man not guilty on the three charges, which related to the night of July 4th, 1996.

The jury failed to agree on a further charge of sexual assault of the woman. The man was granted bail on that charge to January 28th.
