The Government is unlikely to make a final decision on changing the company tax rate in the near future, according to a Department of Finance source. However, it is understood that officials have been working towards a single rate of between 12.5 and 17 per cent.

At present there is a 10 per cent company tax rate for manufacturing and companies in the International Financial Services Centre, while most other companies are taxed at 36 per cent. A rate of 28 per cent applies to a small number of companies.
