Ireland plans to be ahead of other EU countries in its renewable energy programme, the Minister of State for Transport, Energy and Communications, Mr Emmet Stagg, has said in Brussels.

Ireland's target is to increase the renewable energy component of capacity from 6 to 14 per cent by 2020, he said.
