Taliban takes opposition base

Kabul - Afghanistan's ruling Taliban movement yesterday reported the capture of a major north-eastern opposition bastion and again demanded it be given the country's seat at the United Nations. Taliban forces assaulted the opposition's political capital of Taloqan on Tuesday night and entered the town after midnight, Taliban officials said.
