Shanghai - A senior Taiwan envoy flew into Shanghai yesterday and resumed talks with China after a five-year break but the two political rivals remained far apart. The envoy, Mr Koo Chen-fu, head of Taiwan's semi-official Straits Exchange Foundation, said Taipei was willing to talk about anything to reopen communications between the two governments, at loggerheads since the end of the Chinese civil war in 1949.
