STOCKHOLM - Sweden yesterday organised a show of action by smaller member states of the EU in an attempt to force the integration of employment policy into the EU's ground rules at the IGC, Hugh Carnegy reports.
All member states except Britain, France, Germany and Italy were invited to the two day meeting which agreed that the IGC should incorporate job creation objectives to help tackle unemployment, currently running at 18 million.
Only Ireland and the Netherlands were unable to attend, although they are understood to back the initiative.
