THREE men arrested in Clifden, Co Galway, and questioned in connection with damage estimated at £1 million have been released without charge, gardai in Galway city confirmed yesterday.

The three were detained at Mill Street Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and questioned over the weekend, a Garda spokesman said.

Following the release of 250,000 smolts and damage to nine sea cages on the farm of Mannin Bay Salmon Company in early April, a large number of gardai in Clifden and Galway have been involved in the investigation.

Garda divers have also surveyed the scene.

"The investigation is continuing", the spokesman added.
