A suspected suicide bomber today killed 13 people and wounded 11 in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar.

A suspected suicide bomber today killed 13 people and wounded 11 in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar.

The bomber drove a motorcycle into a guard post outside police headquarters in the city.

Ten of the dead and five of the wounded were reportedly police who were standing guard when the assault occurred. The rest of the victims were civilians.

A purported Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the bombing, and threatened more attacks.
