A stretch of the N4 has been closed following the discovery of a suspect device near Longford.
Gardaí said they received a call notifying them of the device this afternoon.
The stretch of road between Edwardstown and Longford remains closed and the Army's Bomb Disposal team has sealed off the area.
Diversions are in place.
