A 24-year old man suffered serious injuries yesterday when he was attacked by a shark while surfing in northern California waters.
The man was surfing near Stinson Beach in northern California's Marin County when he was attacked by the shark yesterday afternoon.
Other surfers in the area heard the man screaming and brought him to shore. His wounds stretched from his upper left leg to his torso, where the shark bit through to the bone, officials said.
The victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries.
The attack prompted authorities to bar entry into the water until Wednesday.
It was the first shark attack in the waters for at least four years, park officials said.
