Support for the party of assassinated Dutch far-right leader Mr Pim Fortuyn has grown since his killing, according to an opinion poll published today.
The poll, the first since the murder of the flamboyant anti-immigrant politician last week, showed that Mr Fortuyn's List Party looks set to win 28 of the 150 seats in the Dutch parliament in Wednesday's general election.
Polls carried out before Mr Fortuyn's killing and the national outpouring of grief and bewilderment that followed had shown his party would win 26 seats.
The ruling Labour Party (PvdA) could forfeit its position as the biggest party in parliament, dropping from 45 seats to 25, according to the poll by the NIPO agency.
The survey of some 2,100 people also predicted that the Christian Democrat CDA would become the biggest party in parliament with 31 seats, up from 29 now.
The murder of the outspoken and openly gay Mr Fortuyn shocked the Netherlands and paralysed the established political parties who were surprised by the amount of people rallying behind Mr Fortuyn's ideas.
The election campaign was halted as a mark of respect and opinion polls were also suspended.
