Belgrade - More than 1.5 million people have signed a petition supporting Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic's candidacy in presidential elections to take place later this month, a top official of Milosevic's party said yesterday.
Mr Gorica Gajevic, the secretary general of the Socialist Party of Serbia, told reporters that 1,593,825 people in Yugoslavia had supported a renewal of Mr Milosevic's mandate in a petition submitted yesterday to the federal electoral commission.
