The president of Dundalk RTC students' union has met the college registrar in an attempt to prevent an escalation of a dispute between the students and college management over the timing of Christmas exams. Yesterday, about 100 students took part in a sit-in at the college in protest at the plans to hold the exams on January 6th.

Mr Mark McKenna said the students want a full week off after Christmas and the exams should be held on January 13th, as in previous years.
