A teenage student died when the car she was driving was involved in a head-on-collision with another car, driven by a 19-year-old male, on Sunday night.

Ms Orla McDonagh (18), Ballygraigue Road, Nenagh, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at Lisgarode, Kilruane, near Nenagh, at 9:30 p.m.

Ms McDonagh's passenger, Ms Colette Lawlor, a friend, is in a stable condition in Nenagh General Hospital. The man who was driving the other car is also recovering in hospital.

Ms McDonagh is survived by her parents Mary and Michael and older brother, Enda, and sister, Ruth. She was studying for her Leaving Cert at Nenagh Convent of Mercy secondary school. She played camogie with her local club Silvermines.
