Wayne O'Donoghue (20) of Ballyedmond, Midleton, was today charged with the murder of his neighbour in Midleton, Co Cork, on January 4th, 2005.

He was served with the Book of Evidence at Midleton District Court today when the initial manslaughter charge was struck out and replaced with murder.

It was Mr O'Donoghue's  eighth  appearance in court since his arrest on January 17th.

The case has now been sent forward for trial at the Central Criminal Court.

Judge Michael Pattwell remanded Mr O'Donoghue, a structural engineering student at Cork Institute of Technology, in continuing custody.
