Structural funds urged for North

An all-party committee of British MPs will today urge the EU not to demote Northern Ireland from its list of economically-deprived regions which merit special help from Brussels. "It would be a blow to European cohesion policy if, of all the EU's regions, the plug were to be pulled on Northern Ireland," the parliament's Trade and Industry Committee claims in a report.
