The Teachers' Union of Ireland has deferred a strike in St Angela's College, Sligo, pending the outcome of a meeting with the Department of Education later this week. The strike was due to take place today.
According to the TUI, no full time, permanent appointments have been made to the college since 1987, leaving some teachers employed on a temporary basis for almost 10 years.
There are 13 TUI members in the college, which teaches home economics to approximately 200 students.
