The threatened strike by SIPTU health services staff in the Eastern Regional Health Authority has been called off following a meeting at the Labour Relations Commission yesterday.

The union had complained of continuing problems over mistakes in pay and the implementation of pay awards.

Both sides have agreed to set up a joint union-management forum.

SIPTU health services branch secretary Mr Paul Bell said the outcome had vindicated the union's stand. A spokesman for the ERHA's shared services centre said the discussions at the LRC had been "amicable".
