Stena Line said last night that all services were back to normal after the HSS was withdrawn from service on the Dun Laoghaire-Holyhead route at the weekend because of engine trouble. Some 500 cars and 4,000 passengers were rerouted through Rosslare, Dublin Port and Belfast, according to Mr Eamonn Hewitt, a spokesman for Stena.
"It was a large operation, but we were able to utilise the Stena Challenger, which took passengers to Dublin Port. Some expressed a preference for Rosslare or Belfast, depending on their final destination", Mr Hewitt said.
