Stars come out for Al as Hollywood still wears its heart firmly on the left

If it was up to the Hollywood stars, Al Gore would be already packing his bags ready to move into the White House.

If it was up to the Hollywood stars, Al Gore would be already packing his bags ready to move into the White House.

Cher, Ben Affleck, Stevie Wonder, Martin Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg and Jon Bon Jovi have all jumped onto the Vice-President's election bandwagon.

Because Hollywood generally tilts to the left, the stable of celebrities supporting George W. Bush isn't quite as full.

Action-movie star Chuck Norris was with Bush at a rally in California on Monday and country music's Loretta Lynn pops up here and there, while actress Bo Derek has also been helping Bush out.

However, the Gore camp has been more proactive, with Cher and Whoopi Goldberg giving radio interviews.

"I wrote Living on a Prayer during the Reagan era trickledown economics," Stevie Wonder told a Gore rally in Michigan. "I don't want to go back."
