A 51-year-old welder has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with murder

A 51-year-old welder has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with murder. Mr Kenneth Shields from Mayo Park, off the Shankill Road in Belfast, is accused of stabbing Mr Edward Robinson to death.

Mr Robinson (35) died on Wednesday after an attack at Mayo Park. Mr Shields was remanded in custody until January 5th.

In a separate case, a 21year-old mother of two accused of murdering her partner in Co Derry on Christmas Eve has been released on bail by the High Court in Belfast. Ms Charmaine McIlwee, from Rathbeg Crescent in Limavady, sobbed as the court heard about the single stab wound which killed Eric Joseph Connor (37).

In another case, bail was refused to Thomas Francis Stokes (17), from Stamford Hill in London. He is charged with murdering Martin Mongan (23) in Ballymagroarty in Derry on Christmas Day.
