Soviet Song to bypass the Curragh

Soviet Song will not bid to land back-to-back victories in the Ridgewood Pearl Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

Soviet Song will not bid to land back-to-back victories in the Ridgewood Pearl Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

The mare has recovered from an infection which forced her to miss last weekend's Lockinge Stakes but connections are not going to rush her back into action in the Group Two contest.

"She's not running on Saturday. She has scoped clean but the race comes too quick after her infection," said trainer James Fanshawe today.

"She'll go to York for Royal Ascot for either the Queen Anne Stakes or the Windsor Forest. We'll see how she is.

"She had been pleasing me up until she suffered the setback and she's still got time on her side."

Soviet Song won the mile contest in convincing style last season before going on to take three Group One races.
