Socialist scores breakthrough

Abidjan - The Socialist President, Mr Laurent Gbagbo, scored a breakthrough in Ivory Coast's parliamentary election with the collapse of the old ruling party's majority, partial results showed yesterday. But even with almost all the seats contested in Sunday's election allocated, it was too early to say which of the two parties would be the largest in the new 225-member parliament.
