Ryan Adams’ Irish concerts cancelled following sexual misconduct accusations

Ryan Adams’ UK and Ireland tour has been cancelled, following allegations of sexual misconduct and emotional abuse by seven women.

The US musician had been scheduled to perform two dates at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre at the end of March.

However, the venue confirmed on Friday the concerts won’t go ahead.

“The Ryan Adams UK & Ireland tour has been cancelled. Full refunds to ticket purchasers from authorised outlets will be processed by end of day on Monday. Please allow time for the repayment transaction to hit your account,” a notice on its website reads.

Mr Adams had also been scheduled to perform gigs at UK venues including the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Mr Adams's new album was shelved last month due to the allegations and the FBI is now investigating the claims, according to the New York Times.

The New York Times reported that Mr Adams sent more than 3,000 text messages to the girl over a nine-month period starting in late 2014, when she was 15. The messages allegedly included explicit photographs. The girl, named only as Ava, claimed that Mr Adams also exposed himself during phone sex sessions on Skype.

Mr Adams has denied that he “ever engaged in inappropriate online sexual communications with someone he knew was underage” in a statement issued through his lawyer last month.
