Euromillions winner lands €12.8m by mistake

Man ticked ‘wrong’ number in error

The winner has chosen to remain anonymous

Ireland’s latest millionaire yesterday revealed he made a mistake choosing his numbers as he picked up his cheque for more than €12.8 million at National Lottery headquarters following his Euromillions win a week ago.

The man – who has opted to remain anonymous – is a regular player and said he picked his usual numbers apart from having accidentally ticked the number 32.

His error helped him beat the odds of one in 176 million to collect half of the €25.6 million jackpot which he shares with a player in Spain. “I wouldn’t mind making a few more of those mistakes,” he said yesterday.

“It’s a dream come true.”
