DANNY DeVito managed to pack in a lot on his flying visit to Dublin last weekend including a quick drive into the Wicklow hills, prompting one wag to suggest that it was probably a good time to start the predictable rumour that he was house-hunting - he wasn't, he just wanted to see some Irish scenery and take some snaps to show his kids.

Over lunch at the Clarence he proved that once a director, always a director when he whipped out a dinky digital camera and began taking photos of his enthralled lunch guests.

Hoping to encourage similar snap happiness is Nikki Gordon, another bright young thing home from London for Christmas. Her employer, Olympus, managed to turn her holiday into a working one and Nikki had to organise a party in Temple Bar's Trastavere. During the party she gave out cameras to Brian Crowley MEP, TV presenter Sarah O'Flaherty, designer Marc O'Neill and Jonathan Philbin Bowman after they promised to spend the early part of the New Year merrily snapping away for an exhibition that Nikki will organise in Dublin in April.
