Smart Telecom has agreed a deal to use ESB Telecoms infrastructure for the provision of additional high-grade broadband services.
The three-year contract worth between €3 and €4 million will see ESBT provide Smart with up to 10Gbps of capacity using two national fibre rings that span the country.
In a statement Smart said the deal would allow it target high broadband capacity business users and residential customers.
The arrangement, coupled with telecoms regulator ComReg ordering eircom to cut by 65 per cent the price it charges other operators to provide broadband services over its network, would triple Smart's target market to 1.5 million consumers, the company said.
