Gardaí investigating the deaths of two men from suspected heroin overdoses and three other serious overdose incidents have expressed confidence that only a small batch of heroin was involved and that they have recovered most of the drug.
Chief Supt Mick Finn of Cork City Division said gardaí could not rule out the possibility that more of the drug remained at large but he expressed confidence that most of the drug was recovered by gardaí in a series of raids on suspected drug dealers over the weekend.
Gardaí raided a total of 16 flats and houses on both the north and south sides of Cork city on Friday night and Saturday. No one has presented suffering from suspected heroin overdoses since Friday night.
