Bratislava - The Slovak government said it would hold an extraordinary meeting to consider having the Prime Minister, Mr Mikulas Dzurinda, officially take over some powers of the ailing President Rudolf Schuster.

Mr Schuster (66) almost died last week and was still in an intensive care ward in Austria. On Friday, his doctors said the President was in a stable condition and that his life was no longer in danger.
