GENEVA - A series of avalanches killed five skiers in the Swiss Alps at the weekend. Four of the deaths in the Valais region and one in Davos.

In Nendaz, rescue dogs found the body of a man buried under snow on Sunday. In the nearby Greppon Blanc region, two skiers were hit by an avalanche and one died in hospital. Other victims included one skier in Siviez Nendaz and one in La Videmanette near Chateau d'Oex.
