A six-year-old boy was killed tonight when he was struck by an ice cream van in Belfast.

A six-year-old boy was killed tonight when he was struck by an ice cream van in Belfast.

The accident occurred in Tyndale Grove in the Old Park area of north Belfast shortly before 7.30 p.m., police said.

"The child was struck by an ice cream van and was conveyed to hospital where he subsequently died. There was no other vehicle involved," a spokesman added.
