Moscow - Six Russian soldiers were killed and 11 wounded in rebel attacks in the breakaway republic of Chechnya, news agencies cited the Russian military as saying early yesterday.

Russian army roadblocks and buildings were attacked 22 times on Monday, the official source said.

Russian forces have officially lost 2,600 troops in Chechnya since Moscow launched operations there in October, 1999.
