Six men were in Garda custody last night for questioning in connection with an investigation into stolen cars.

The men were arrested in the Saggart area of Dublin on Saturday afternoon. Gardaí also seized high-powered cars.

Gardaí said the arrests occurred when a patrol noticed a vehicle acting suspiciously near a house in Saggart. Extra units were dispatched to the location, and in a follow-up search six men were arrested.

Three vehicles were seized as part of an investigation into a stolen car ring.

All six arrested are foreign nationals.

Gardaí said they were being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. They were being held last night at various Dublin Garda stations.

Gardaí are investigating the possibility that the seized vehicles were stolen in Carlow, Westmeath and Louth.
