London - Police yesterday praised the kindness of three Good Samaritans who lost their lives as they attempted to help at the scene of a motorway crash.

Six people died in the tragedy on the A1 near Dishforth, North Yorkshire, on Saturday - including three people from a car involved in an initial accident, a couple from a Range Rover and the driver of a removal lorry, both of which stopped to help. They were killed after an articulated lorry ploughed into the scene of the accident.
