SIPTU, Ireland's largest trade union, has asked all party leaders to state their view on establishing a national minimum wage and on workers' rights to trade union recognition.

The union's president, Mr Jimmy Somers, and its general secretary, Mr Bill Attley, wrote to all the leaders asking what action the parties would take on the issues.
