Police are searching for two armed men who fired shots at a taxi in north Belfast this afternoon.

Police are searching for two armed men who fired shots at a taxi in north Belfast this afternoon.

The men got out of the taxi in Lawnbrook Avenue, off the Shankill Road, this afternoon and fired a number of shots back into the car.

They then made off on foot towards the nearby Cupar Street at around 3.00 p.m.

The taxi driver was not understood to have been injured.

"A motive for the shooting has yet to be established," a police spokeswoman said. She appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact police.
