A shot was fired during an attempt to rob a Connemara post office early yesterday morning

A shot was fired during an attempt to rob a Connemara post office early yesterday morning. A number of men gained entry to Roundstone PO at 4 a.m. but were disturbed by the postmaster, who lives above the premises.

The shot was fired as they fled but, according to gardai, nobody was injured, while the raiders got away with a small amount of money. The stolen car they used was found abandoned at Rahoon in Galway.
