Two supermarket workers were tied up and assaulted during a robbery in a north Dublin shop last night.

Two supermarket workers were tied up and assaulted during a robbery in a north Dublin shop last night.

Two men, one of whom was armed with a knife, entered the Spar shop in Clarehall at about 10.25pm. Staff members were threatened before they were tied up and assaulted.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken and both raiders fled on foot. The staff members subsequently managed to free themselves and alert gardaí.  Two men matching the description of the raiders were arrested nearby and an amount of cash was also recovered.

The men were taken to Coolock Garda station for questioning under the terms of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The scene of the robbery has been preserved pending a technical examination.
